Background of the Study
The media plays a powerful role in shaping public opinion and influencing political outcomes, including the representation of women in politics (Okoye & Haruna, 2023). In Gusau Local Government Area, Zamfara State, media coverage of female politicians is essential in forming public attitudes towards them and can significantly impact their political success (Ali & Zubair, 2024). Traditional media outlets such as radio, television, and newspapers, as well as social media platforms, have the ability to either perpetuate gender stereotypes or challenge them by providing positive portrayals of women in leadership (Aminu & Abdullahi, 2025). Despite the growing participation of women in politics, media portrayals often focus on their appearance, family roles, and personal lives rather than their political competence, which can influence public perceptions negatively (Salihu & Tijani, 2023). This study seeks to assess the role of the media in shaping public attitudes towards female politicians in Gusau, focusing on how different media platforms represent female political figures and the impact this representation has on their political careers.

1.2 Statement of the Problem
Media coverage of female politicians in Gusau Local Government Area often reflects gender biases, with women receiving less attention for their political achievements compared to their male counterparts (Yusuf & Idris, 2024). This study aims to explore how media representation of female politicians in Gusau affects public attitudes and contributes to the challenges women face in politics.
